Job Description:
Morena Welding Inc. is currently seeking an experienced, structural steel and architectural steel welder, fabricator and installer. Morena welding is an established and premier structural steel and custom fabrication shop that has served the San Diego community since 1980.
Qualifications:
• Minimum 2 years welding experience: WELDING CERTIFICATION IS A PLUS (AWS D1.1 & D1.8)
• MIG and TIG welding experience is required
• Familiarity and experience with the use of torches, punches, grinders, drills, benders and plasma cutting.
• Ability to de-bur/grind metal as necessary to achieve proper surface texture to finish
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Ability to accurately read architectural, structural, and fabrication drawings
• Accurate material preparation, layout, calculations and measurements
• Knowledge of steel er****on and field welding.
• Able to work with a variety of metals.
• Familiarity with various welding machines, shop and lift equipment
• Familiarity with the use of torches, punches, grinder, drills and other power tools
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and with others
• Accountable, on time, and have exemplary work ethic
• Must be able to work at heights as required
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Minimum High School Diploma or GED
• Clean driving record :MUST HAVE A VALID CDL
Position Responsibilities:
• Provide accurate layout, assembly, and welding while utilizing knowledge of geometry and an understanding of various metal properties, weld shrinkage, and welding techniques.
• Responsible for all aspects of fabrication and installation
• Familiarity with equipment to facilitate loading/unloading of steel materials on and off job sites.
• Commitment to taking care of company tools, equipment, and personal tools
• Ability to work in all positions and in varying conditions
• Identify all safety risks and requirements
• Must be a team-player and support all coworkers
