This week our team is overseeing the demolition of an existing facility to make way for a new project that will better serve the client’s future needs. Thoughtful planning, coordination, and safety are just as critical in demolition as they are in construction.

🎉 Milestone Moment at Palomar College! 🏗️

Today we celebrated the steel topping-off and beam signing for the Palomar College Athletic Fieldhouse—a major milestone marking the structure’s rise and the incredible teamwork behind it.

This future-forward facility will serve as a hub for campus athletics and events, featuring a box office, concessions, training rooms, locker rooms, and more—all designed to support students, athletes, and the broader community.

With doors scheduled to open later this year, it’s exciting to see this vision taking shape. Huge thanks to our partners HMC Architects and Balfour Beatty for their collaboration and leadership in bringing this project to life.

Barrie + CO is officially underway on the management of a full renovation of the main kitchen at Casa de Mañana, supporting the new Front Porch Culinary Program. Casa de Mañana opened its doors in 1924 as Hotel Casa de Mañana — meaning “House of Tomorrow” — making the historic property 100 years old in 2024

This comprehensive project spans multiple areas around the kitchen—including the basement, upper and lower kitchens, loading dock, and patio—and delivers major upgrades throughout. Kitchens, offices, and administrative spaces are receiving a complete remodel with new plumbing, electrical systems, and finishes, alongside exterior, rooftop, and patio enhancements that will create a more modern, functional, and welcoming environment.

To keep daily operations running seamlessly during construction, a fully equipped temporary kitchen was installed in the front parking lot and will remain active for the duration of the project.

The Barrie + CO team is proud to be supporting Phase 2 of Palomar College’s multi-year Athletics Redevelopment Program.

Phase 1 delivered transformative upgrades to the Football Stadium and Softball Field, including new competition fields, modern amenities, and enhanced spectator experiences. We are honored that this work was recognized with an American Sports Builders Association (ASBA) Field Facilities Award in the Multi-Field category.

Phase 2 is now underway with steel er****on and centers on the new Athletics and Kinesiology Field House, designed to achieve Net Zero Energy performance through on-site solar generation and integrated stormwater bio-retention systems. Completion is anticipated in the coming months.

At The Barrie Company, we believe in supporting our community and empowering young athletes to chase their passions. This year we’re thrilled to sponsor the Eastlake Cycling Team for the 2025 season, a program that has been inspiring students to embrace the lifelong sport of mountain biking since 2009!

What started as a small group of dedicated coaches, parents, and teachers has grown into two incredible teams: the Eastlake school team, serving students from Eastlake Middle and High School, and the South Bay Composite team, welcoming riders in grades 6-12 from across southern San Diego County.

We’re honored to help provide the resources these student-athletes need to train, compete, and build confidence—on and off the trails. Here’s to another amazing season of adventure, teamwork, and success!

🏗️✨ Big things are happening at Barrie + CO! We’re thrilled to share the latest progress on our expansion project for Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Diego—adding 27 new guest rooms, a playroom, and remodeled offices to support families in need. 💙🏡

⚾ The San Diego Padres are stepping up in a big way, sponsoring the "Padres Playroom"—a special space where kids can play, dream, and just be kids. We had the incredible opportunity to host some Padres players for a behind-the-scenes job walk, including Yu Darvish, who will represent the team in the playroom with a life size image where you can measure your height according to Yu!

We’re excited to announce the completion of our latest project; a vibrant new feature at SDSU! As you drive up College Avenue onto campus, you’ll be greeted by color-changing LED lights that shift with the seasons, campus events, and special occasions.

Our team worked closely with SDSU, P2S & DPR to install these energy-efficient lights, adding spirit and sustainability to the campus experience. The lights are fully programmable, allowing for SDSU colors on game days, displays for the holidays, and festive hues throughout the year.

🚧✨ Exciting News! Today marks a significant milestone as we break ground on the new Workshops for Warriors building! This new ground up facility will help expand their mission of providing high-quality, accredited STEM education and hands-on training.

WFW’s are committed to empowering veterans, transitioning service members, and other students to earn nationally recognized credentials and thrive in advanced manufacturing careers. 💪🔧

We are thrilled to be working with our amazing team partners, Clark Construction and AVRP Architects, to make this vision a reality. This new space will allow for the support of more heroes on their journey to success.
