Another phase complete at Firefly RV Resort in Fredericksburg, Texas and we hear this one is already well-loved!

Featuring Grey Lueders limestone, natural cedar siding, and expansive glass, the new clubhouse embraces a modern Hill Country palette while opening up to quintessential Texas Hill Country views from the pool deck.

Shown here before the landscaping and furnishings are complete—we’re excited to see the final pieces come together.

Just back from a few inspiring days in Northwest Arkansas for the Small Scale Developer Forum (SSDF)!

We explored some incredible small-scale development projects and joined panel discussions on food & beverage, housing, and mixed-use design — all centered around creating walkable, connected, and resilient communities. A highlight was connecting with developers and designers from across the country who share a passion for thoughtful growth and placemaking.

Special thanks to Jim Heid and the entire team for putting together such a fun, insightful, and energizing experience.

At CREO, we believe that good design matters — and the success of the Northwest Arkansas region is proof that small-scale, community-driven development can make a big impact.

Proud to share our recently completed renovation and addition project for the H-E-B Foundation in San Antonio, TX — right next door to their new headquarters.

The scope included upgraded entrances, new windows and canopies, fresh paint, courtyard landscaping, an expanded rear office, and a new maintenance building — all designed to better support the important work of the Foundation and their non-profit partners.

CREO provided both architecture and interior design services, with Metro leading construction and Coral Studio shaping the landscape design. Always a pleasure to collaborate with great partners for an amazing client.

At CREO, we blur the line between digital and physical craft. From leveraging AI and cutting-edge software to hands-on fabrication, we design and make. At CREO, we’re reimagining housing through adaptable, community-driven design and the strategic use of emerging technologies to explore new models—especially in the realm of cohousing.

From modular systems and rooftop living to hybrid layouts that blur public and private space, each prototype is part of an iterative design process aimed at addressing the housing crisis with dignity, functionality, and long-term value.

Affordability isn’t a limitation—it’s a catalyst for innovation.

Backlot Living: A New Script for Housing in Los Angeles

Los Angeles, like many cities across the United States, faces an urgent demand for affordable housing. At CREO, we believe this moment calls not just for more units, but for a reinvention of how we imagine living itself—with dignity, flexibility, and contextual relevance at its core.

For the Small Lots, Big Impacts design competition hosted by UCLA, our team explored a compact urban site with a linear footprint. In response, we developed three distinct yet interrelated housing typologies, each with its own facade expression, unified through a central S-shaped spine—a dynamic circulation system that acts as both connector and community anchor.

Rather than prescribing a rigid solution, we embraced architectural flexibility as our core principle—drawing inspiration from Los Angeles’ iconic backlots, where structures are adaptable, customizable, and built for imagination. We believe housing should empower its residents, offering a framework that allows for personal expression within a coherent system.

Natural wood was chosen not just for its cost-effectiveness and environmental performance, but for its warmth and timeless character—elevating the experience of everyday living without compromising affordability.

Backlot Living is a prototype that is resilient, replicable, and rooted in identity, showcasing CREO’s broader commitment to Creativity, Research, Equity, and Opportunity. Our proposal reflects a future where affordable housing isn’t reduced to bare minimums, but elevated through thoughtful design, adaptable systems, and human-scale development.

Because the future of housing should be lived, not just occupied.

What better way to celebrate Earth Day than a site visit to kick off design on our new project at Hunting Island State Park in South Carolina. Snakes, gators and ticks did not stop us from walking the site with survey and environmental to start to determine the least disruptive utility pathways and proposed cabin locations. Long way to go, but the new cabins will compliment the existing tent and rv campsites near the beach. As pictured the lighthouse from the mid-1800s is still being restored. Can you guess what Tom Hanks film used the island for jungle scenes!?
