This past Monday night at the Saluda Board of Commissioners meeting, the Historic Saluda Committee (HSC) officially discontinued its role as a committee under the jurisdiction of the City of Saluda. Building upon past successes, the newly formed nonprofit, Historic Saluda, Inc., will be able to operate more independently to carry out the original and ongoing mission of the HSC.
This change will provide Historic Saluda, Inc:
• Greater flexibility to pursue stronger advocacy efforts.
• Leveraging private funding through grants, donations, and fundraising initiatives.
• The ability to own and manage property.
Members of Historic Saluda, Inc. thanked city officials for their years of support and encouragement by presenting a plaque to Mayor Tangie Morgan.
Cindy Tuttle, President of Historic Saluda, Inc., stated, “On behalf of the Historic Saluda, Inc. Board of Directors, we wish to emphasize our desire to continue working with the City of Saluda in an advisory capacity related to our primary focus areas. We also wish to express our sincere appreciation for the City’s vision and support over the past 15.5 years. We look forward to continuing our partnership in the years ahead.”

Mayor Morgan pointed out a little interesting side note. All three women pictured in the foreground, including Mayor Morgan, are cousins from the Pace family. No one was really surprised! 😃
