How much warning do you have before an idler failure becomes a major problem?

Most conveyor idler failures aren't discovered until they generate excessive heat, damage the belt, or impact production.

With Smart Idler Technology, maintenance teams gain visibility into conveyor health through continuous monitoring of temperature, vibration, and roll performance.

The result?

Earlier detection of potential failures
Reduced fire risk from overheating components
Less unplanned downtime
Improved maintenance efficiency
Greater confidence in conveyor reliability

When a conveyor is critical to production, waiting for a failure is often the most expensive maintenance strategy.

Why Do Conveyor Belts Mistrack?

Conveyor belt mistracking is one of the most common challenges in bulk material handling.

When a belt consistently runs off-center, the result can be increased spillage, accelerated belt wear, component damage, unplanned maintenance, and costly downtime.

But belt mistracking is often a symptom of a larger issue—not the root cause.

Common causes of belt mistracking include:

• Uneven material loading
• Misaligned pulleys or idlers
• Material buildup on pulleys or rollers
• Damaged or seized conveyor components
• Belt splice issues
• Changes in belt tension or operating conditions

Identifying and correcting the source of mistracking is critical to maintaining conveyor reliability and extending the life of both the belt and conveyor components.

At Syntron Material Handling, we understand that effective belt tracking starts with understanding what causes a belt to mistrack in the first place.
