Earlier this week, our team had the opportunity to attend the 2026 SC DES Water Summit in Columbia, South Carolina. The event brought together water experts, industry leaders, and environmental stewards from across the state to discuss sustainable water management, conservation, and the future of South Carolina’s water resources.

We’re grateful for the chance to connect with other professionals who are passionate about protecting our water systems while supporting continued agricultural and economic growth. Events like this are an important reminder of how collaboration and innovation play a key role in preserving our natural resources for future generations.

Thank you to the organizers and everyone who made the summit a success. We’re proud to be part of the conversation and look forward to applying what we learned to better serve our customers and communities.

🚨 Attention South Carolina Farmers & Forest Landowners 🚨

The South Carolina Department of Agriculture has announced the new South Carolina Disaster Relief Block Grant for Helene, providing $38 million in federal funding to assist producers impacted by Hurricane Helene. ✅ On-farm infrastructure damage
✅ Irrigation losses
✅ Aquaculture infrastructure losses
✅ Market losses
✅ Future economic losses for perennial crops and shellfish

Applications are expected to open in early 2026 and will be available online only. Producers are encouraged to begin gathering documentation now, including FSA numbers, parcel maps, tax documents, and proof of losses.

The program applies to producers in the 33 South Carolina counties and tribal areas that received a Presidential Disaster Declaration following Hurricane Helene.

What a great turnout at the State House last Thursday! Melanie joined Aiken Land Conservancy, Palmetto AgriBusiness Council, and many others to support Land Legacy Leaders Day with Governor Henry McMaster and our state legislators.

A great day at the State Capitol for Land Legacy Leaders Day! Executive Director Peter Kleinhenz and Conservation Coordinator Mike Zang were joined by local landowners Julia Beamish, Marsha Rodgers, and Melanie Shull—strong advocates who continue to support land protection efforts in our community.

Run Cody Run!

Cody Simpson, a fifth-generation South Carolina farmer, SHATTERED state fundraising records for the office. Simpson, who entered the commissioner race on February 19th, reported contributions of $440,975. This amount - received in just a 49-day period - exceeds not only the quarterly fundraising record but also the entire election cycle record.

“From our grocery store to our schools to our gas pumps, the office is critical to South Carolinians, and I am most grateful for the historic support to serve as the next commissioner. When President Trump said, ‘RUN, CODY, RUN’ – I took that to heart. I am just getting started and will have the resources necessary to win for our farms, our families, and our future.”
