Since 1932, Quaker City Castings has been part of an industry built on hard work, skilled trades, and people who take pride in what they produce.

A lot has changed over the years. Equipment has improved, technology has advanced, and the demands placed on manufacturers continue to grow.

But some things haven't changed.

Behind every casting are the people who prepare the molds, pour the metal, operate the machines, inspect the finished parts, and keep the foundry running.

A casting can have the right material, the right geometry, and a well-designed mold, but how that mold is positioned during pouring can still make a significant difference.

Casting orientation influences how molten metal enters the mold, how air and gases escape, where inclusions may accumulate, and how the casting solidifies.

For complex components, those decisions can affect internal soundness and the amount of finishing work required after shakeout.

That's why the best pouring position isn't necessarily the way the finished part will sit in service.

At Quaker City Castings, mold orientation is one of the manufacturing decisions considered when planning how to produce a casting. It's part of turning a finished drawing into a practical foundry process.

Today, we remember the 2,977 lives lost on September 11, 2001.

We honor the first responders who ran toward danger, the men and women who helped in the days and months that followed, and the families whose lives were forever changed.

Twenty-five years later, we remember not only the tragedy of that day, but the courage, sacrifice, and unity shown by Americans in its aftermath.

From all of us at Quaker City Castings, we pause to remember those we lost and those who answered the call.
