Last week, Lori McLaughlin and Wayne Guido from our utilities team attended the Spring D7 Utility Liaison Meeting, an event dedicated to fostering the collaboration of utility activities in the right-of-way among utilities, consultants, FDOT, and municipalities. Our team engaged with industry leaders and the FDOT District 7 Utilities Administrator, and took part in informative presentations and hands-on training sessions. They also participated in productive discussions with public agencies and private firms on design standards and strategies for damage prevention.

George F. Young provided comprehensive civil engineering and surveying services for the VIV Apartments, formerly known as Belpointe Towers & Pocket Park, in St. Petersburg, Florida. The property was transformed into a vibrant, mixed-use, 15-story development featuring 269 residential units, retail space, and a multi-level parking garage on 1.88 acres. Our engineering team managed site design, permitting, and construction administration, successfully obtaining key variances from land development regulations through public hearings with the Development Review Commission. Simultaneously, our surveying team completed boundary, topographic, tree, and utility location surveys to support the project’s success.

Happy 10th work anniversary, Juan Carlos Cintron, PE!

Juan Carlos, PE, is a Project Manager on our Lakewood Ranch civil engineering team. His main roles include client relations, design, and managing project budgets. Juan Carlos has extensive experience in both urban and rural land development projects, spanning the full scope of site design, from site plans, drainage, and grading to water and sewer utilities, stormwater management systems, and guiding projects through the permitting process with state agencies and in Puerto Rico.

Throughout his time at G*Y, Juan Carlos has thrived on collaboration and solving project challenges, building strong connections with colleagues along the way.

Outside of work, Juan Carlos cherishes time with his family, enjoys exploring nature, exercising, and traveling to new places - his latest adventure took him to Peru!

George F. Young was proud to contribute to the completion of the Bernie McCabe Second District Court of Appeal Courthouse in downtown St. Petersburg.

Partnering with Osborn Engineering, our team delivered comprehensive subsurface utility engineering and land surveying services. We identified and mapped all underground utilities entering the site ahead of its demolition and future reconstruction. Our work included mapping gravity sanitary lines and providing test holes to confirm the exact vertical and horizontal dispositions, utility types, sizes, and materials of the utilities present.
