George F. Young's survey team completed comprehensive boundary and topographic surveys of 1,800 acres in Gadsden County, featuring roughly 5.5 miles of riverfrontage along the Ochlocknee River for the Lewis Creel Plantation in Brooksville, FL.

Working closely with FDEP, the team conducted a boundary survey for a conservation easement to establish the sovereign lands boundary line along the Ochlocknee River, clarifying the separation between public and private property. To further support the project, a detailed topographic survey was completed to aid the engineering design of multiple low-water crossings on interior creeks and to collect seasonal high-water elevations and groundwater monitoring well data. LiDAR technology provided topographic information along the river corridor, which our survey crews then verified on foot and by boat at FDEP-established record elevations to accurately delineate the boundary.

George F. Young's survey team partnered with The Roberts Companies to support the City of Gainesville's Bivens Arm Marsh Nature Park restoration project in Gainesville, FL.

Our team conducted survey staking to establish clearing limits and site control points. Using precise horizontal and vertical data, vegetation was removed, and excavation was performed in accordance with engineering plans. Upon completion of the excavation and restoration of the creek inlet and marsh, our surveyors provided as-built information to verify that the project met all design specifications. The restoration aims to revitalize the marsh, which has suffered from diminished natural water flow over the years. This decline allowed dense plant growth to overtake the marsh, restricting water movement and preventing it from reaching Bivens Arm Lake.

Bivens Arm Nature Park is scheduled to reopen in April 2027 following habitat restoration and boardwalk replacement, ensuring an improved experience for all future visitors!
