What does it take to build 120 brake assemblies every hour?

When you're assembling a brake system, quality isn't something that's checked at the end. It has to be built into the process from the start.

Designed and built by our team in St. Joseph, Michigan, this automated assembly system combines robotics, 3D vision, and inspection technologies to produce 120 brake corner modules per hour.

By verifying critical assembly steps throughout production, the system helps ensure consistency while meeting the demands of high-volume manufacturing.

If you're facing a production challenge where consistency matters just as much as throughput, let's talk.

We’re less than a month away from AUTOMATE.

📍 Booth #21011 | North Building

Our team is looking forward to being back in Chicago and connecting with customers, partners, and others across the manufacturing industry.

This year, we’ll be showcasing a new live demo that we've been developing and are excited to finally put on the show floor.

If you're attending, stop by the booth to see it in action and talk with our team about the manufacturing challenges you're working through. Whether it's assembly, material handling, vision, robotics, or a process that simply needs a better way forward, we always enjoy those conversations.

AUTOMATE brings together thousands of manufacturing professionals and the latest advancements in automation technology, making it a great opportunity to see what's new and exchange ideas with others in the industry.

We hope to see you there!

Today, we honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice and dedication helped protect the freedoms we enjoy every day, and we are deeply grateful.

From all of us at Edgewater Automation, we wish everyone a meaningful Memorial Day.

Please note our team will be out of the office today in observance of the holiday and will return tomorrow.

32 robots.
18 integrated stations.
One impressive automated assembly system.

Here’s a look at the system as it left our St. Joseph, Michigan facility following a successful FAT, with installation now underway at our customer’s plant.

The system combines FANUC 6-axis and SCARA robots, integrated feeding systems, SuperTrak™ conveyance, and vision inspection technology across 18 stations to support a fast-moving assembly process with quality verification built directly into the line.

For products where there is little room for error, systems like this help maintain consistent quality while keeping production moving efficiently at scale.

We appreciate the continued partnership and trust from our customer throughout the project and are looking forward to the next phase as the system moves into SAT.

We had the chance to host students and faculty from Notre Dame iNDustry Labs at our Buchanan facility today.

Our team walked through some of the projects we’re building, talked about the different paths into manufacturing, and gave the group a look at what day-to-day work in this industry really looks like.

What stood out most was how engaged everyone was throughout the tour. They asked thoughtful questions, wanted to understand the challenges behind the systems, and were genuinely interested in how everything comes together.

We appreciate the group taking the time to visit us today. Opportunities like this are a great reminder of how important it is to keep students connected to real manufacturing environments and the people working in them every day.

Built at our St. Joseph, Michigan facility, this automated assembly and palletizing line was designed to support a process involving large molded fiberglass components. Work like this often comes with heavy lifting, airborne particles, repetitive motion, and overall difficult working conditions for operators.

Systems like this help manufacturers create processes that are more consistent, more efficient, and better equipped to handle large products and challenging materials in a controlled and reliable way.

Using multiple FANUC America Corporation M-2000iB heavy-payload robots, this system moves and positions large components throughout the process with a high level of consistency from part to part. In applications where products are large, heavy, or difficult to work with manually, that consistency can have a real impact on both production and the people working around the process every day.

This is what automation is really about. Solving tough manufacturing challenges in a way that helps companies run better while creating a more dependable working environment for their teams.

Last week we spent time at New Buffalo High School’s career fair talking with students about what a career in manufacturing can actually look like today.

At Edgewater Automation, we know a lot of people don’t always have a clear picture of the opportunities in this industry. That is why getting in front of students and having real conversations matters. It helps connect the dots between what they are learning and what they could be doing in the future.

We spoke with students at all different stages. Some had a clear idea of what they want to do, while others were just starting to explore their options. A number of them asked about how to get started, including through apprenticeships, which is exactly why we continue to be part of events like this.

Pictured at our booth are Todd Tanskley and Jacob Brown. Todd also coaches the school’s FIRST Robotics team, the Bionic Bison #5535, which gives students hands-on experience that carries into real-world problem solving.

This week we recognize the people building their careers through hands on learning. Apprentices are a key part of Edgewater, developing technical skills and gaining real experience while contributing to the work behind every project we deliver.

Across Edgewater Automation and Edgewater Manufacturing, they support a wide range of work, from machine building and electrical to metal fabrication and more.

Happy National Apprenticeship Week to our apprentices. We appreciate the work you put in every day and the role you play across Edgewater! 👏🏼

Spartanburg, South Carolina is right in the middle of a region that continues to grow and invest in manufacturing, from automotive to aerospace and defense.

That is exactly why our team is there.

Across Edgewater Automation, more than 30% of the work we support ties back to automotive. Being surrounded by that level of activity keeps us closely connected to the pace, expectations, and challenges shaping the industry.

At the same time, the Southeast is seeing a steady rise in aerospace and defense manufacturing, and with it, a growing need for automation. Our Spartanburg facility has taken on more of that work and is proud to support it as an ITAR-registered partner.

Being part of this region allows us to stay connected to what matters locally while contributing to something bigger. It supports the manufacturers driving growth, creates opportunity within the community, and strengthens how we show up for our customers.

If you are manufacturing in the Southeast and looking for a partner who understands the work happening here, we would welcome the conversation.
