Wow! We've had a really busy and successful start to this honey season. The bees came back from Texas in May and we met many customers who bought nucs. Mitch, Paul, and Zeke have been busy managing our own yards since then. This past weekend was our first weekend we've been able to go to the Wright County Swappers Meet to sell honey this year. It was great to see new faces and some returning customers. Did you know? You can always stop by our house to pick up honey. Just send Mitch a text 320.266.8529. "There are crystals in my honey. Is it going bad?"

Nope! Raw honey naturally crystallizes and is still safe to eat. You can eat it as it is, or if you would like it to be liquid again, you can warm it gently. We recommend putting it in a pan of water on the stove and warming it on low heat. We do not recommend heating it in the microwave (and especially not the plastic bottles).

Genesis (age 7 years old) got a Nuc for her very own! She was brave to go out to the bee yards with Dad (Mitch) and brother Zeke, and she didn't get any stings (but mom, Steph, did find a tick on her suit). 😁

Dandelions may be a nuisance to carefully manicured lawns, but they are an important first flower of spring in Minnesota for the honeybees. They are blooming late this year, but just in time for our bees to come back!

Our queens are a mix of genetics from MN Hygienic, Russian, and Mike Palmar overwintered queens from cold northern Vermont. From these, we select for honey production and calm gentle bees. Mitch's dad updated us from Texas that our parent hives are healthy and strong. This is great news! The bees are scheduled to arrive back in Minnesota in just a little over 3 weeks. We have arranged to have a pickup in Baxter, MN, for nucs in May. What is a Nuc? It is a "nucleus colony." Our nucs have 5 full frames of bees and brood. When you take your nuc home, you remove the frames from the nuc box and place them in your deep hive. Having a young, laying queen and so much brood ensures that your hive will be off to a successful start.

Our nucs come in a sustainable wooden box that needs to be returned. For our Brainerd Lakes area customers, we will arrange for you to drop off your boxes and receive your refund when we are up north.
