Last week, our Matthews | DCCM team came together for our annual Christmas Luncheon — a great meal, plenty of laughs, and a few games to keep the fun going. Moments like these are a reminder of what makes our team special: the people, the relationships, and the culture we’ve built together.

We also took time to celebrate some well-earned milestones, recognizing Eric Lanehart, Michael Brynildsen, Rachel Washington, and Conar Piermarini for five years; Danielle Fiorellino for 10 years; and Keri Matthews and Rob Matthews for 20 years.

As we wrap up our 20-year anniversary celebration, we’re reflecting on projects that exemplify how infrastructure can directly serve people, like the St. Johns County Health & Human Services facility.

Matthews | DCCM provided full civil site design, stormwater planning, utility infrastructure, and permitting for this 40,000-SF facility on a 16-acre site near the County office complex. Working closely with County staff, agency partners, and subconsultants, our team delivered an integrated site solution that supports critical health and social services for the community.

It’s projects like this that remind us why we do what we do—and why we’re so proud of the communities we’ve helped shape over the past two decades.

Giving Tuesday is a reminder that generosity—big or small—can change someone’s day, season, or even their year. Today, we’re shining a light on a local partner doing exactly that: Pie in the Sky Community Alliance. 🧡

Pie in the Sky helps fight senior hunger and isolation in St. Johns County by delivering food and a friendly check-in to low-income seniors in our community.

Recently, our team wrapped up our annual food drive to support their mission. Thanks to everyone who donated, we collected an abundance of pantry staples like pasta, shelf-stable meals and milk, soup, vegetables, and cereal, along with much-needed personal hygiene items. We’re so proud of our team for stepping up in such a big way.

As we continue our 20-year anniversary celebration, we’re spotlighting projects that showcase our commitment to thoughtful, context-sensitive design—like the Renaissance Hotel in downtown St. Augustine.

Located at the intersection of San Marco Avenue and West Castillo Drive, this high-profile site required a design that respected the historic character of the city while meeting modern hospitality needs. Matthews | DCCM developed the site plan for the 89-room hotel, including 159 total parking spaces, a pool, and an underground parking garage to maximize space in the dense urban footprint.

Our team worked closely with the City’s Historical Architectural Review Board to align the design with the corridor’s established architectural standards. The result: a project that supports St. Augustine’s tourism economy and fits seamlessly into one of the city’s most visited areas.

And this week, as the city's renowned Nights of Lights kicks off, the hotel looks especially stunning—adding even more warmth and charm to the heart of downtown.
