Park Station Taphouse and Southie Restaurant in Alameda is now open! My owners invited the contractors and development team to test out the beer taps and sample some grub prepared by Southie last night. It was a great time! Everything came out great! JLR Civil, Inc. provided civil engineering services for the external patio and street frontage reconstruction. There are some unique stormwater management concrete infiltration structures we designed to capture onsite stormwater. I bet the business is slammed with customers tonight! If you ever go to Alameda, stop by this place to kick back and have some beers! Cheers!

Check out this "pipe bridge" project we completed last year. We designed a 79' x 24" steel pipe to span over an excavation area to keep a 14" fire line in service to protect buildings at McClellan while construction is on-going.

JLR Civil, Inc. designed a temporary 79' x 24" steel pipe bridge to carry a 14" fire water line through an open excavation area. The fire service needed to r...

Nice morning to be out on the jobsite! It wasn’t a million degrees out. Had to meet with the group and do a little field work and inspection on a piece of the project I’m working on. They are moving quite a bit of dirt around out there! 👷‍♂️🦺🚧

I was able to stop by one of my jobs in the Bay Area in August. My client is converting an old gas station into a restaurant and tap house. What was once the gas pump and parking lot will be transformed into a large outdoor patio. The photos here show the formwork for the infiltration trenches JLR Civil, Inc. designed. The City required zero storm water discharge to the street. Should be a unique feature in the patio as they will have grates on top that the patrons can stand on without losing patio space. Should be a cool spot when they are finished.

This is one of my most favorite photos I took when I was working on fixing roads. I was working on an old road that was in real bad shape. We dug out a section to replace. The section here was about 4 inches AC, thin layer of of chip seal/gravel, 2 inches of dirt, and +12 inch of yellow clay. This was a good visual of what some agencies have deal with. You could imagine how the original construction happened by looking at the progression of material layers. Interesting, but not exactly standard construction. I believe I ended up replacing this section (and others like it) with 6 inches AC, over +12 inches of Class II AB.
