Legacy energy systems face an increasing demand to produce more electrical power and reduce carbon emissions. However, transmitting more electricity can increase line losses and heat release. MetOx International, located in Houston, Texas, has developed Xeus™ wire, an advanced superconductor wire that operates at much higher temperatures and creates the high magnetic fields required to contain fusion energy. This new technology minimizes heat emissions and can reduce line loss by up to ninety-five percent. With their depth of experience in roll-to-roll manufacturing, Re:Build Optmation’s engineering and fabrication team designed and assembled much of the equipment used by MetOx for the manufacture of this exciting product. Leaders in the industry aim to manufacture superconductor wire at scale.

We had a great day representing Re:Build Optimation at the ROC With Your Hands event sponsored by The Rochester Technology and Manufacturing Association. There were over 1,400 students in grades seven through twelve engaging in career exploration. We shared project examples and described our apprenticeship program.
