"This little 1/2” endmill from is a champ! Having the chip splitting notches makes the chips so small and easy to manage compared to not having them. If you’ve never tried this style of endmill, please do it once for a roughing op. Compare back to back and you’ll be amazed!
4245 RPM
126 IPM
Z-1.220” LOC040” stepover
Turn on the mist collector and stand back! 🤘
The speed and feeds were determined by their free Machining Advisor Pro application. Plug in the tool part number, which is 59406 in this case, and tell it the rest of the data it needs and it’ll give you ideal parameters. Every cut is different depending on how much flute length you’re using. It’s no longer about straight SFM and IPT anymore if you want to maximize results. If you haven’t tried it, you should. 😎
Also notice how there are hardly any chips built up on the table. With the chip splitter notches, the chips are very compact and easy to manage. But even with the notches in the flutes, the resulting surface finish is still very good! You would have a hard time even knowing the difference.
