The Newton County Sheriff’s Office is honored to announce recent promotions.

Sgt. David Miller was appointed Chief Deputy. Captain Miller started his career with NCSO in 2009. Capt. Miller is a certified field training officer and serves as our Taser instructor.

Cpl. Wes Cook was promoted to Sergeant. Sgt. Cook began his career with NCSO in 2019 serving on our drone team and recently became a certified primary instructor. Sgt. Cook is also a certified field training officer and serves on the joint-agency STS (swat) team.

Deputy Steve Scheckel was promoted to Corporal. Cpl. Scheckel began his career with NCSO in 2021. Cpl. Scheckel is an Army veteran, serves on the drone team and as the liaison to our Reserve Division.

Congratulations to each of you. We are proud of your commitment to Newton County.
