It feels like a lifetime ago that my life took a huge and gigantic change. I was working as a CPA in a local mid-size accounting firm, and although successful, I wasn't happy. It was time to clean up what got messy. Brave? Eh, maybe. Stupid? Quite possibly. I tend to believe that if you don't like something, you should change it. I say that like it was easy. I stay? Oh, my stomach hurts. What will I do for money? Where will I go? What if this....and what if that? Two months after I took the leap, I started Rustic Carvings. It has been my avenue for creativity ever since. A few years ago, I had a gorgeous little baby. This little boy has changed everything. Every single stinking little thing. And a few years after he came along, we were blessed with a little girl. The two of them keep us on our toes, and chasing them almost constantly. That's why Rustic Carvings is now Makers A+O. Whilst taking care of a pre-schooler who is always, always, always on the move, and a baby that's constantly crawling and getting into things, it's difficult to also be in the workshop getting all full of sawdust and working with heavy machinery. This new name will facilitate other avenues of creativity. Wherever the creative bug may strike. And, adding my husband to the mix, means there's also the possibility of 3D Printed items, leather work, or whatever else may strike his fancy. We like to create and make, but that's where the love and passion is - in the creation. I am a clean freak. Everything this little family loves to do - wood carving, painting, drawing with chalk on the sidewalk - creates a big ol' mess. The way I figure it? Life is messy. Cleaning up afterwards is only half the fun.
