Great conversations at the Maryland Building Industry Association Montgomery County Chapter Annual Breakfast on May 15!

The event focused on important topics shaping Montgomery County, including housing, redevelopment, permitting, and economic growth. Speakers included Andrew Friedson and Artie Harris, who shared updates on the future of development in the County.

We were especially proud to see Kyle Soltesz lead the event as Chair of the Montgomery County Chapter and present the Malcolm Shaneman Quality of Life Award to Katherine Mencarini of the Montgomery County Planning Department.

We’re investing in the future of our team—and our projects.

This spring, Soltesz kicked off a Project Management Training Program for a group of emerging and mid-level leaders. The year-long program includes monthly sessions across our offices, focused on building the skills needed to lead projects from start to finish. The first sessions covered the role of a project manager and key fundamentals like planning, organizing, directing, and controlling project work. Because strong project delivery takes more than technical expertise—it takes great leadership.

Our Director of Surveying, Garrett Culler, recently attended the West Virginia Society of Professional Surveyors Conference last month in Wheeling.

The Young Professionals program is all about helping early and mid-career team members grow, connect across offices, and build strong working relationships. Events like this are a fun way to bring that to life outside the day-to-day.

Big milestone in Rockville: the Planning Commission approved compatibility for a proposal to convert 2 Research Place—currently home to Soltesz’s corporate offices—into 68 two-over-two condominium homes.

A “Compatibility Finding” means the project is a good fit for its surroundings, including how it’s designed, scaled, and integrated with neighboring properties.

As the Chief of Zoning noted at the meeting, this project is the first project of its kind before the City’s Planning Commission—an early sign of the growing shift toward office-to-residential conversions.
