Its great to see our customers getting back out in tradeshows. Last week Marotta Controls had their cutaway-missile actuator demo at 'Satellite 2021' in Washington, DC. They were also sporting a new display from Modelmakers - to showcase their state-of-the-art flow control valves. This week they are at the “Air Space Cyber” conference in the Ga***rd Convention Center.
And MacDermid Alpha was at the Electric and Hybrid Vehicle Technology Expo in Detroit last week, with three new models demonstrating their cutting edge sintering applications for EV power trains. Next up they will be at the SMTA Empire Expo & Tech Forum in Henrietta, New York, September 28th.
Even in the realm of super high tech, there's no substitute for in-person communication!

In this video, Mike from Modelmakers Inc. polishes acrylic, removing scratches, haziness and opacity.

Process includes hand wetsanding, and cloth wheel machine buffing with rouge. Process can be applied to various materials including wood, and certain hard plastics in addition to acrylic - ABS, Delrin and others.

In this video, Mike from Model Makers Inc. demonstrates how to get a smooth finished edge when cutting acrylic on a table saw. Using a carbide tipped blade specially made for plastics prevents chipping or cracking, and a few quick passes with a hardened steel scraper creates a soft edge.

Vacuum forming plastics at Model Makers Inc.

John at Model Markers Inc in Rockaway NJ demonstrates the creation of a 3D shape from flat polystyrene. Vacuum forming can also be used on other thermoplastics including polyethylene, some PVC, PET-G, R-PET, and ABS.
