Look closely at what’s holding this wall together.

The vertical rods running up through the courses are post-tensioning. The green components on top of every block are the interlocking geometry. Between them sits mineral-based mortar. Nothing exotic, nothing you can’t see in this frame.
That combination is how a Renewabuild wall handles air control — and Passive House demands a lot of it. A commonly referenced target is 0.6 ACH50 for new construction.

What’s missing from this photo is the point: there’s no polyethylene v***r barrier. No sheet to puncture, tear, or get compromised by the next trade on site.

Because h**pcrete is v***r open, it acts as a moisture buffer and a drying reservoir. There’s no single plane where condensation can silently accumulate. #
Airtight and v***r-open are not the same thing. Conflating them is one of the most common mix-ups in high-performance building, and it changes how every detail downstream gets drawn.

Worth being clear: Passive House is a whole-building standard. No wall product earns it alone, and final airtightness still has to be demonstrated through proper design, construction, and testing.

But the wall can do more of the work.

R25–R40+ and no thermal bridging. Most walls lose insulation value at every stud, header, or seam. Standard wood-frame walls can fall well below their rated R-value once you factor in the framing. Renewabuild structural h**p blocks don't have that problem.

Our blocks deliver continuous, engineered thermal performance with no gaps and no weak points, plus hygrothermal properties that regulate humidity as well as heat. That means indoor temperatures stay stable year-round, energy costs go down, and indoor air quality improves.

What makes this wall structural?

Not the h**pcrete block on its own — it’s the patented post-tensioning rod system. Threaded steel rods run vertically through the blocks, anchored at the base and compressed under a top plate. That’s the engineering that carries the load.

Proud to have joined HempAgra at their Grand Opening in Rock Valley, Iowa.

RenewaBuild Great Plains showcased our structural h**p building blocks, highlighting our partnership with HempAgra. Events like this reflect the growing momentum behind industrial h**p as a viable, renewable solution for the building industry.

President Bill Brehmer and CMO Peter Suyama, along with co-founders Ken Meyer and Johnathan Peterson, spent the day connecting with growers, partners, and industry professionals — sharing the story behind RenewaBuild GP's h**p block technology and what this partnership means for the future of sustainable construction across North America.

Setting the record straight on a few common h**pcrete misconceptions:

“It’s not real h**pcrete” → Same materials, same science. Just made in a factory instead of on-site.

“It’s non-structural” → The structure is built right into the block.

“Curing is curing” → Not when it happens in controlled chambers instead of at the mercy of the weather.

“Natural = slow” → Prefab blocks mean faster walls, fewer delays, earlier move-in.

Sustainability got h**p on the map. Precision manufacturing is what scales it. 🏗️
