Paddock was making a splash a little farther from home with this one. 👀

This archive photo, believed to have been taken sometime in the late 1940s or 1950s, takes us all the way to Lima, Peru, where a Paddock Official Diving Board stood poolside at the historic Club Lawn Tennis de la Exposición.

Founded in 1884, the club has been part of Lima’s sporting history for well over a century — and apparently, Paddock found its way there too.

Nearly 4,000 miles from home and you still couldn’t miss that PADDOCK name on the board. 😎

Poolside in San Mateo

This vintage shot from the Paddock archives takes us poolside at the Benjamin Franklin Hotel in San Mateo, California. The hotel opened in 1927 and became a longtime landmark in downtown San Mateo — but it's the pool that caught our attention.

Based on the swimsuits, furniture and unmistakable poolside style, we believe this photo was taken around the 1950s or early 1960s.

Nearly a century of Paddock history means there are still plenty of stories waiting to be rediscovered.

UPC is back for 2027! 🌊

The Ultimate Pool Conference returns, this time to Reno, Nevada, February 10–12, 2027, bringing together professionals from across the commercial aquatics industry for two days built around education, collaboration and real-world problem solving.

UPC is designed to get beyond the sales pitch. Designers, engineers, builders, manufacturers, operators and other industry experts come together to share experiences, tackle challenges and have the conversations that move our industry forward.

This year’s sessions will dive into design and construction, engineering and systems, water quality and operations, amenities, permitting, project challenges, renovations and more.

And yes... we’re having a little fun with it. 🚢 This year, UPC is setting sail with an all-new cruise theme.

Swimming at the Ski Resort!

These photos from the Paddock archives take us back to the earliest days of Sun Valley Lodge in Idaho — around 1936–1938.

When Sun Valley opened in 1936, it wasn't just another mountain getaway. Developed by Union Pacific Railroad, it helped introduce the idea of the American destination ski resort, and an outdoor swimming pool was part of the experience from the very beginning.

Yes, an outdoor pool. In Idaho. In the winter. In 1936. 😎❄️

The pool was fed by naturally warm water — reportedly so warm that it actually had to be cooled before guests could swim. The pool also became part of the glamorous image used to promote Sun Valley: ski the mountains, take a swim and enjoy resort life surrounded by some of the biggest names of the era.

These original photographs are especially interesting to us. One shows the Sun Valley Lodge pool under construction, another shows guests enjoying the finished pool, and the backs identify them as Union Pacific Railroad and Paddock photographs. They've been preserved in the Paddock archives for decades.

Finding photographs like these nearly 90 years later is exactly what makes digging through the archives so much fun.

From swimsuits to ski suits, Sun Valley knew how to do both. 🏊‍♀️⛷️

October's Product of the Month is Paddock Deck Equipment, and we’re kicking things off close to home at the Clover YMCA in Clover, South Carolina.
