An aerial look at our 3-axis and lathe department here at Advantech Industries, where precision starts with the basics.

Our 3-axis mills move in X, Y and Z to cut accurate features quickly and efficiently, and our lathes spin material to shape round parts with tight tolerances.

These machines are the backbone of how we make parts day in and day out.

What part of the machining process do you want to see more of next?

How do you make sure your Z is in the right spot? Are you using the same method?

Another inside look at what goes on in our machine shop here at Advantech Industries.

Do you see any machines you recognize?

Jake walks us through how to start the 4th operation on this part.

Every part is different, so the process can change depending on the job. But this is typically what goes into most of the parts we run here at our shop.

What other parts of the machining process do you want to see next?

Most people see metal getting cut. We see surface speed, chip load, and heat control.

When a CNC tool is spinning at thousands of RPM, friction builds instantly.

That heat can destroy tooling, warp material, and ruin tolerances if it’s not controlled properly.

That’s where coolant comes in.

Coolant isn’t just there to “spray and look cool.” It reduces heat, lubricates the cut, clears chips away from the tool, and protects the integrity of the part.

Without it, tool life drops, finishes suffer, and precision goes out the window.

This is our OMAX 80X waterjet machine in action.

Here’s a real job we’re currently running on it. We use this machine to cut raw material with extreme precision before it moves on to the next operation in our shop.

This facility at Advantech is a big step forward for where we’re headed.

This space currently houses our press brakes, assembly operations, waterjets, punch press, and fiber optic laser. There's still more room to take on larger, more complex work.

Most importantly, this floor space is ready for new equipment and automation.

We’re continuing to invest in technology that helps us grow, improve lead times, and serve our partners at a higher level.

This is our Amada Press Brake machine.

It bends sheet metal by pressing it between a punch and different dies to create precise angles and forms. Depending on the job, we swap out dies to match the material thickness and the exact bend profile needed.

Because it’s CNC-controlled, every bend is repeated accurately across parts, keeping quality consistent and reducing scrap.

And this is just one of the many steps each part goes through in our shop before it’s complete.

Machinists, what’s the tightest tolerance you’ve held on a lathe this year?

02/18/2026

Inside these walls, we specialize in CNC machining, welding, and assembly. Our multi-axis CNC machining centers and high-precision lathes turn raw stock into tight-tolerance components.

Our certified welding stations and fabrication teams bring structural assemblies to life.

And with robotic machining cells integrated into our process, we’re increasing consistency, repeatability, and efficiency at scale.

From defense and medical to transportation and energy, the work produced here demands accuracy.

And we’re not standing still. Advantech is constantly investing in new technology, automation, and smarter systems to improve lead times, tighten tolerances, and grow stronger as a manufacturing partner year after year.

Have you ever used a power washer before?

Most of them run around 2,000–3,000 PSI.

Now multiply that by 20. That’s the kind of pressure our OMAX 80X waterjet runs at, up to 60,000 PSI.

Right now, it’s cutting through 3 inches of armored steel like it’s nothing. We use it to cut thick raw stock clean and precise, then send those parts to our CNC machines to be finished to exact tolerances.

From a 51-pound block of 6061 aluminum to a precision-machined part.

Most of this 2-hour cycle is dedicated to facing and roughing out the stock, building the foundation for the tight tolerances that come next.

Once these are complete, they head to the next operation to keep production moving.
