Have you ever wondered how a breast prosthesis is made? Second to Nature was invited to Trulife’s production facility in Dublin, Ireland, for a behind-the-scenes look at the process.

We enjoyed learning about the company’s history and seeing some of the original breast prostheses produced in the 1970s.

Each prosthesis begins with a strong, durable silk filament. Every piece is carefully cut to a specific shape and size to create the foundation of the form.

Once the shape is complete, each prosthesis is filled with 100% medical-grade silicone. It is then baked and cured to achieve the desired feel and durability.

Next, every prosthesis is carefully hand-trimmed and thoroughly inspected to ensure it meets Trulife’s high standards.

Trulife proudly uses 100% medical-grade silicone, providing quality, comfort, and suitability for sensitive skin.

We are a certified DME facility through the American Board for Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics, and our certified mastectomy fitters provide professional bra fittings in private, discreet fitting rooms designed for your comfort.

We carry post-surgery bras, traditional bras, sports bras, camisoles, breast prostheses, compression garments, and products for women who have had a mastectomy, lumpectomy, or breast reconstruction. We also offer garments for those struggling with truncal lymphedema.

We keep a large inventory in stock so, in most cases, you can go home with your products the very same day. Many items are covered by insurance, and we’re happy to verify your benefits for you.

Today our boutique, Second to Nature, had the opportunity to serve as a satellite location at the LewisGale Hospital in Pulaski—helping support women navigating breast cancer. 💗

We were able to see 21 patients and dispense 67 bras, making it a truly successful and rewarding day. We’re grateful for the opportunity to care for such strong, inspiring women and look forward to continuing to bring support where it’s needed most. We will see you all again in November!
