The National Corvette Museum has completed their restoration of Zora Arkus Duntov's 1974 big block Corvette under Dan Garrett's direction. We are happy to have played a very small part in this effort by supplying Quanta Products' custom frame stencil, reproduction fan belts and O.L. Anderson gas tank. A question recently arose from a customer as to which Cast Blast product to use for a steering box. Should he use Hi Temp Cast Blast or regular Cast Blast. Our guidance was that when you use Hi Temp Cast Blast, the parts need to be heated to say above 300F to get the best performance of the product. Since the steering box was not going to be completely baked in that way, we recommended going with regular Cast Blast. Although engine compartment temperature get pretty hot, regular cast blast should be fine for that application. We use regular cast blast on the rear differential housing also. Cast exhaust manifolds, however, should be painted with Hi Temperature Cast Blast.

Do you have bare metal parts on your chassis, body and underhood that you wish to keep original looking? Restoguard(TM) spray protectant is what we use on our 1966 Corvette underbody/chassis parts to keep them looking original. We coat these parts on a yearly basis by spraying Restoguard(TM) ("WET" version) on a shop cloth and wiping down brackets and parts. This deposits a thin coat of Restoguard(TM) ("Wet version) which dries over time providing a protective undetectable clear silicon oxide surface treatment. It will not harm painted parts. The "DRY" version of Restoguard(TM) goes on thicker (more wax like) and is largely used for long-term storage of you metal parts in your garage. Get your today!

It's "Gas Tank Tuesday" and we are featuring our exact reproduction 1963-1967 Corvette tank today. It has the O.L. Anderson (OLA) logo embossed in the tank and is correct for judging. These are terne-plated as original and not the galvanized powder-coated tanks you get elsewhere. Did you know that we collaborated with O.L. Anderson in Detroit in the early 1990s to reproduce Corvette tanks with the round side indents? More on that in coming posts.
