Solar Decathlon teams have worked for months to design sustainable homes, schools, and mixed use buildings. Learn how these buildings transcend the materials they are made of and put our planet first.

The annual Solar Decathlon Competition was held April 19-21 at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory in Golden, Colo.

It’s my pleasure and joy to create awards for the incredibly talented young designers of a sustainable future. Thank you for the honor! And speaking of sustainability, these Kiitella custom trophies are made from 90% recycled steel and American oak that’s reclaimed from dismantled agricultural buildings (mostly to***co drying sheds, warehouses and granaries built in the 1800s).

Congratulations to the 2024 Design Challenge Grand Winner 🏆 and to the winning teams in each division!
