For our next employee spotlight, we are proud to honor a true legend at Lyle Machinery.

Jim Luther, our VP of Sales at the Gulfport branch, is celebrating an incredible 43 years with our company. Jim’s journey is a testament to where grit and dedication can lead. He started out as a young kid with no construction machinery experience, tackling the tasks that kept the operation running. He spent his early days sweeping floors and cleaning parts bins. His commitment paid off. By 1966, he had risen to the position of Parts Manager, and by the early 1970s, he had moved into sales, playing a pivotal role in changing the landscape of the machinery market in Mississippi.

His career has been defined by his lasting bond with the Lyle family. After decades of working side by side with our founder, John Lyle, Jim continues that tradition of excellence today with our President, Dan Lyle. When describing that relentless drive, Jim notes with admiration that if Dan is on a deal, "he is going to come home with the deal." It is that same never quit spirit that has defined the partnership between the Lyles and the rest of the team for generations.

Jim’s success is not just about sales numbers. It is about a core philosophy: there is more to this business than simply buying and selling. He believes that you have to create a genuine partnership with customers, and he is a staunch advocate for fixing any issues immediately, knowing that if you do not take care of a customer when a problem arises, that problem remains.

Today, as we honor his 43 years of dedicated service, we see a man who still wears the Lyle Machinery shirt with pride every single day. Thank you, Jim, for the lessons you have taught us and for showing us all what true commitment to a team and to our customers looks like.
