“When there’s a need for more infrastructure, there’s a need for more Halff.”

We couldn’t put it better ourselves. As one of the largest employee-owned engineering firms in the nation, we know that when people have ownership in what they do, there’s a direct line to the intentional care and excellence placed in projects and clients.

That is true across our offices, including in The Valley where Halff recently celebrated the expansion of our Brownsville office in Texas. As our Operations Manager John Clint puts it, "Most of our employees here are born and raised in The Valley. And they truly care about how The Valley moves forward." That translates to the quality of our work and local investment in the clients and communities we serve.

Thank you to the Rio Grande Guardian for highlighting Halff’s expansion and the people who make us excellent. Read the full article here: https://riograndeguardian.com/stories/murray-when-theres-a-need-for-more-infrastructure-theres-a-need-for-more-halff,67062

Hats off to a true champion of service! 🎉Halff has named Samantha Kaschel its HCI Outstanding Volunteer of the year. This award honors an individual who goes above and beyond to support the Halff Community Initiative, our employee-run nonprofit arm.

Under Samantha’s guidance, Halff’s Austin office reached more than $65,000 in employee contributions last year. During HCI Giving Week, her leadership resulted in 90 total volunteer hours served and seven nonprofits supported in one week.

Ashley Pifer has been published by the American Water Works Association (AWWA) in two recent Opflow articles. Part of the "Operators Need to Know" series, these pieces unpack coagulation, flocculation and clarification—all of which greatly affect treated water.

These processes impact the performance of downstream processes like filtration. Proper methods not only produce higher-quality water but reduce the risk of treatment plant disruptions.

• Coagulation is a critical first step: chemicals are added to bind together suspended solids, creating floc.
• Flocculation is next: this means binding together the smaller particles into larger floc.
• Clarification then removes floc from the water.

These three processes are at the heart of conventional surface water treatment, and each step functions as part of an integrated system rather than an isolated unit process. When they are thoughtfully designed and operated, they determine how well everything downstream performs. For operators and engineers, the message is clear: filtration success is largely earned upstream.

Well-designed and well-operated coagulation, flocculation and clarification processes will be increasingly important as treatment plants face tighter water quality goals and higher hydraulic demands.

💧 Small actions help deliver a big message! In recognition of TFMA's Flood Awareness Week, the purpose behind Wear Blue Wednesday is about amplifying the importance of flood risk awareness across Texas. During Infrastructure Week 2026, conversations across the industry are timely with the surface transportation authorization set to expire in September 2026. Infrastructure projects are long-term in nature, planned and executed on multi-year timeframes. For the industry, this means we are focused on what it takes to plan, fund and deliver projects that serve our people and communities well.

Infrastructure shapes our quality of life in ways both seen and unseen, and growth is certainly ahead for our nation. Meeting that growth will require foresight, consistency and a commitment to building infrastructure that’s ready.

The country is facing a shot clock for the reauthorization of surface transportation infrastructure funding. The current federal transportation authorization expires in September 2026, and until this week, it appeared that congressional efforts to advance a reauthorization had fallen behind schedule...
