We had a great time at the WTS Fashion Show in Sacramento! As a proud sponsor, Lumos joined fellow transportation professionals, colleagues, and clients for an evening full of fashion and great conversations.

Beyond the runway, the event helped raise scholarship funds for the next generation of transportation professionals.

It’s exciting to see a project years in the making reach a milestone like this. 🌲

The beam and tree topping ceremony celebrated the progress of the new Virginia City Combined K–8 School and the many people who have helped bring the vision to life.

Lumos is proud to be part of the project team, providing civil site design and structural design as a consultant to H+K Architects, along with special inspection and testing services throughout construction.

One of the most memorable parts of the ceremony was hearing former Storey County School District superintendents reflect on how long this project has been in the works and what it means to see it becoming a reality.

We’re excited to see the new school continue to take shape and to be part of a project that will serve the Virginia City community for years to come.

This week, we’re celebrating Construction Appreciation Week and the people who bring experience, decision-making, persistence, and a whole lot of adaptability to their work every day.

Construction rarely looks exactly the same from one project to the next. Conditions change, challenges come up, and there is always something new to learn. That’s part of what makes the experience of the people doing the work so valuable.

We asked a few members on our Construction team to share some of the lessons and moments that have stuck with them over the years, and their responses say more about the work than we ever could.
