The Story Behind Spuhr – How It All Started
Hi, I’m Håkan Spuhr. When I was 10 years old, I decided I wanted to become a gunsmith.
To get there, I first went through technical trade school and then spent 8 years working as a tool- and diemaker. After that, I transitioned fully into gunsmithing.
One of my specialties back then was welding on SIG P210 frames – a very precise and demanding job. The arrow in the photo points to where the frame was cracked and welded. I welded hundreds of these over the years.
This particular P210 (shown here) is the very first one I welded, back in 1991. It also got a welded-up beavertail for a better high grip.
I left full-time gunsmithing in 2004, but I still take on the occasional project for myself or for people who matter to me – always old-school, hands-on work with almost no CNC involved. It’s the total opposite of what we do at Spuhr AB today, where everything is precision CNC-machined.
