Effective Monday 4/27/26 our Carhartt store hours will be changing to match our production hours. All Red Oak Fabrication/Carhartt locations will have the following hours:

Monday - Thursday : 7am to 4pm
Friday : 7am to 11am
Saturday/Sunday : closed

Please note that our shipping/receiving hours differ slightly from production hours.

Due to an upcoming retirement - Red Oak Fabrication is looking to replace our Controller. This is a full time position with benefits. Applications and resumes can be turned into Sydney Jones at 2400 N Broadway. She can also be contacted with any questions surrounding this position.

Job Summary:
The controller is responsible for managing and supporting the financial operations of the company including planning, investing, budgeting, and other financial matters.

Duties/Responsibilities:
· Coordinates the company’s financial planning, budgeting, and investment activities.
· Provides financial analysis with an emphasis on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.
· Prepares the periodic financial statements, activity reports, and financial forecasts.
· Completes credit applications and provides sales tax certificates.
· Review of service contracts, vendors and past due A/R customers.
· Reviews financial details from past, present, and forecasted operations.
· Assists ownership with short- and long-term financial objectives.
· Assists managers with implementation of accounting policies.
· Main contact for 401k, including weekly audits.
· Monthly reconciliation of accounts, including COGS, expenses, and sales reports.
· Collaborate with auditors to provide information needed for audits and census reports.
· Maintains knowledge of organizational procedures, federal and state regulations, and accounting standards.
· Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Excellent and highly accurate math and accounting skills.
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
· Proficient with Microsoft Office software, and specialized accounting software used by the organization.
· Five or more years of related experience required.
· Business related bachelor’s degree highly preferred.

Physical Requirements:
• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to access and navigate all areas of fabrication and machine shop.
• Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times.

Through the Years...
A look at Red Oak Fabrication’s History...

Established in the heart of Southwest Iowa, Red Oak Fabrication evolved from its humble beginnings in 1913 to become a cornerstone of the fabrication industry. Rooted in exceptional craftsmanship and a dedication to customers Red Oak Fabrication started in 1913 as Pike Machine. Pike Machine Shop was changed to Red Oak Machine Co in 1923.

The four-generation legacy of the Fort family started when Ted Fort began employment in 1928 with Red Oak Machine Co, then becoming an owner when he purchased interest in the business in 1944. Red Oak Machine Co became a family business when Ted’s sons Bill and Jack joined the company after their service in World War II. Bill launches the outside sales of oxygen and welding supplies in 1946, and Jack joined the company's sales team in 1947. Bill and Jack later purchased the company from their father and worked alongside each other for many years. Later, Bill purchased Jack’s half of the company and continued to work on the shop floor helping customers, even after he lost his eyesight due to a health condition.

Jeff Fort started his career with Red Oak Machine in 1978, working for his father (Bill) and Uncle Jack. He drove a route truck selling welding supplies until 1992, when he and his wife Kelly bought the business from his father. He continued to expand the business with additional purchases of both property and equipment.

The next generation of family business started when Jacob Fort joined his father (Jeff) in 2001 as an inside/outside salesman for Red Oak Industrial Gases. Shortly after, in late 2003, Justin Fort joined his father and brother as a route driver. In 2004, Jeff sold off the Industrial Gases portion of the business to focus on welding and fabrication. Jacob came back to Red Oak Fabrication in 2014, and Jordan Fort joined the family business on a fulltime basis in 2015. Jacob and Jordan became owners in 2022, when they purchased a portion of the company from Jeff and Kelly Fort. Justin Fort returned to Southwest Iowa and joined the family business in 2022.

Today the day-to-day operations are run by the fourth generation of the Fort family - Jacob, Justin, and Jordan. The family business continues to stand proud with their work showcasing as a testament to quality, innovation, and the enduring spirit of community service. At Red Oak Fabrication, every project and purchase is a journey through our storied heritage.
