Students from Reading Southwest Middle School are stepping into the world of modern manufacturing at The Rose Corporation as part of the annual What’s So Cool About Manufacturing® video contest in Berks County. This exciting initiative gives middle school students a firsthand look at innovative manufacturing careers while challenging them to create engaging video profiles of local companies.

The What’s So Cool About Manufacturing® contest connects students with local manufacturers, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the technology, creativity, and teamwork that power today’s industry. Through company tours, interviews, and hands-on learning experiences, students discover that manufacturing is about much more than machines—it's about innovation, problem-solving, and building the future.

The Rose Corp produced multi-purpose girders used in a variety of heavy lift and heavy transport applications including suspension girders for over the road hauls, and below the hook applications for heavy rigging scenarios.

These 25 ft long girders were fabricated from Strenx 900 and A514 plate materials. In order to keep them straight, a machined welding fixture was used to clamp onto during the welding process. Both ends of each girder were machined on our Ingersol Planer Mill. One end faced and drilled and line bored on the other end. The bored holes on one end allow multiple girders to be pinned/assembled to each other when longer girders are required.

Our Blasting and Painting facility features:

- EPA compliant five-bay 10,000 sq. ft. facility contains storage space for up to six 40 ft. yard trailers

- Blast and paint units, each one 25 ft. wide by 20 ft. high by 60 ft. long

- Dual-media blasting, steel grit, or crushed glass, to SSPC standards. - ---- Other blast media could be used upon request

- Customer specified coatings including primer, enamel, epoxy and high-temperature paints applied

- Cross-draft, heated spray booth, offering applications for high-quality industrial coatings

- SSPC Trained and Certified Paint Specialist

- Paint inspection includes blast profile and dry film thickness measurements in accordance with SSPC standards

After years of using the A.O.D. Vessel under extreme heat conditions by a local specialty steel mill, the center main body bulged out of round by as much as 3-inches making it impossible to fit into the trunnion ring that supports it.

We were contracted to replace the center section (1-1/2” thick steel cylinder) Time was of the essence, had to be repaired, stress relieved tested, and returned in less than 5 weeks, mission accomplished!

We have also been contracted to build a duplicate “New AOD Vessel” again, time is of the essence.

The Rose Corporation was tasked with fabricating and machining enclosures, brackets, and baseplates for multiple units used in industrial and municipal settings. These units require a sturdy, air-tight enclosure to ensure operational efficiency as well as safety.

The base plate consists of a 316 stainless steel plate and sheet, as well as A36 carbon steel. Shearing, plate rolling, waterjet cutting, tig welding, and the use of a horizontal and vertical boring mill were required for fabrication of the enclosure covers. The full cover required a tank head to be applied for the dome-shaped top.
