About Elk

Elk Environmental Services was founded in 1988 by the Empire Group as an environmental waste transportation company to complement their already successful demolition and excavation business - Empire Services. The owners, Harry O'Neill III and Todd O'Neill, came across environmental concerns during demolition and excavation jobs, such as the discovery of asbestos and leaking storage tanks. Taking care of these issues would have meant putting a stop to a job, costing the customer additional time and money. Also, new local, state and federal regulations dictated how these issues were to be handled with as minimal damage to the environment as possible. Harry and Todd saw this as an opportunity to create a business that would provide turnkey solutions for these issues and more. Thus, they created Elk Environmental Services.

Elk Environmental has evolved into a full-service industrial and environmental remediation and waste management services firm. Over the last 30 years, we have broadened our line of services, expanded our service area, built an experienced team, and attained additional licenses and certifications. Our health and safety officers stay on top of the latest EPA, RCRA, DOT, PADEP and OSHA regulations to ensure our field employees are adhering to them through extensive training.

Today, Elk serves clients throughout the Mid-Atlantic states. Our expert staff provides a diversity of services, including decontamination services, vacuum truck services, hazardous and non-hazardous transportation and disposal, lab packing, and more than 40 safety and compliance training courses.

In 2011, the company added Elk North, which operated from an office in the Williamsport, PA, area and then relocated to Wysox, PA in Bradford County. Elk North serves producers in the Marcellus and Utica Shale oil and gas industry with transportation and disposal of waste and industrial cleaning services. Elk North also serves the Upstream, Downstream and Midstream markets as well as industrial clients.
