Most people think building a mold is just another machining project. In reality, it’s much closer to building a custom machine from scratch.
Every mold is different. Every program brings its own geometry, tolerances, materials, and production requirements. Before a tool ever reaches sampling, it may move through CNC machining, EDM, grinding, fitting, assembly, validation, and multiple rounds of adjustment along the way.
And after all of that work, the expectation is still simple: the mold needs to run consistently, often for millions of cycles.
That’s why mold building depends so heavily on experienced people who understand how all the pieces connect together, not just individually, but as a complete system. A small decision early in the build can affect performance much later in production.
