This is Wheels, our newest addition to the team. Our new intern is training to be a certified Shop Dawg and road companion. He will bring peace and joy to our clients while I take care of the technical aspect of the job.

The most challenging and time consuming aspect of my job is, believe it or not, administration. Coordinating parts and tools to arrive in time and to the right place, as well as planning and scheduling repairs. I am in the works to implement remote diagnostics. It'll be pretty cool to see.

My first real shop is finally coming along. I have been working and waiting without knowing when this will materialize for the last 10 years. Yet, here it is! Later than I wished but sooner than expected, that's life.

For our clients with fleets, this means more flexibility. Our official HQ is opening in January. I will still be offering field maintenance and repair. The shop now allows me to build several projects that have been progressing slowly such as the l**e trailer, calculated to service over 20 vans/trucks in a single day. Big repairs requiring more than 1-2 days will now be towed here by either me or our trusted third party. Our insurance has been updated to cover on-field and in-shop work.

Your starter cranks and stalls after a couple revs. One would immediately condemn the battery. Yet after a voltage drop test you find that the short is inside the starter, you pull it out and find that the drive housing is broken. Disassemble and sure enough. The starter shaft and armature show signs of rubbing against the winding.

Without the drive housing, the force of the motor will push the shaft towards the housing. Acting as a short to ground. A quick full pen weld with 6013 and the starter cranks like new.

Military diesel generator, now a farm generator. Mechanical distributor injection, air cooled 4 cylinder. All the specs and diagrams are plated on the panel. You can take the whole thing apart with just one set of wrenches.

These days, nearly half 7.3s that don't start on me turnout to be the PCM. After all the many I've gone through, I wonder, can they be fixed?
