We offer in-house repair of electric, lever, manual chain and wire rope hoists. We can repair and test to comply with ASME B30.16 and B30.17 specifications. With an in-house load test stand, we can do static and dynamic testing of your hoist. We currently provide in-house repair services for Budgit, Chester, CM, Coffing, Harrington, Lodestar, Shopstar, Shaw-Box and more. We take care of the complete repair – our preferred method of freight - WE COME TO YOU! We will pick the hoist up, repair it and bring it back fully functional. No overpriced freight charges and you get to speak to the techs that handled your repair.

Harrington added hazardous location electric chain hoists to their three-phase electric chain hoist line.

These new hoists are designed for use in hazardous locations (HazLoc) where fire or explosion risks may exist due to flammable gasses or combustible dust.

The hoists are available in three different models for various hazardous location atmospheres:

The RNER2 model is suitable for Class II Division 2 with protected dust groups F (coal) and G (grain).
The RNER2B model is designed for Class I, II Division 1 with protected gas groups C (Ethylene) and D (Propane) and with protected dust groups F (coal) and G (grain).
The RNER2D model meets the requirements for Class I Division 2 with protected gas groups of B (Hydrogen), C (Ethylene), D ( Propane).

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s standard OSHA 1910.179(b)(3) and OSHA 1910.179(k)(2): Modified or rerated cranes shall be load tested. Test loads shall not be more than 125% of the rated load unless otherwise recommended by the manufacturer. The test reports shall be placed on file where readily available to appointed personnel.
The American Society of Mechanical Engineers’ standards ASME B30.2: Overhead and Gantry Cranes, ASME B30.16: Overhead Underhung and Stationary Hoists, and ASME B30.17: Cranes and Monorails with Underhung Trolley or Bridge: New, reinstalled, altered, repaired and modified cranes and hoists should be load tested prior to initial use with a test load equal to 100% to 125% of rated load and to include all design functions (lift, lower, traverse length of bridge, traverse length of runway).
The Crane Manufacturers Association of America standard CMAA Specification 78, section 4.7: Cites the load test requirements of OSHA 1910.179 and states a load test should be performed at a minimum of once every four years at 100% load with a pre-test and post-test inspection per periodic inspection guidelines, and there must be a written report of the load test and inspection results maintained on file for the life of the equipment.

A hook is designed to hold a load in a particular and precise direction. When the weight isn’t supported as intended by the hook, it compromises the internal integrity of the hook and can increase the chance of it bending, stretching, or cracking. The load can also slip off of the hook if it stretches out the throat opening.
