Ervin Rigsbee - R5 - RIP

Some of you in our racing family have already heard the news about the passing of a true local racing legend, Ervin Rigsbee. For those who don't know, the red R5 driven by Ervin Rigsbee during the 1970s, '80s, and '90s put fear in the hearts of his fellow racers and kept fans on the edge of their seats.🏁

Whether he was slinging red clay on dirt tracks around North Carolina or carving a line on the asphalt-paved Wake County Speedway, Rigsbee dominated everywhere he raced.

Ervin Rigsbee and his Eagle Pontiac / Rigsbee Auto Parts-sponsored cars were a staple at America's Favorite Bullring (on dirt and pavement), where he inspired generations of local race fans and drivers, some of whom you'll get to see race this season.

Please keep the Rigsbee family in your prayers at this difficult time.🙏

This picture was taken over 60 years ago. When J.L. Boyette started Boyette’s Machine Shop the Federal Mogul warehouse was beside him. Federal Mogul did not sell directly to customers because they were a warehouse. They would send the customers that came in next door to Boyette’s Machine shop to make their purchase. Boyette’s Machine Shop was a reseller for Federal Mogul products at that time. J.L. would normally get the service part (installing the bearings) of the business as well. It was a great partnership. Eventually Federal Mogul moved to a bigger warehouse and Boyette’s Machine Shop bought their building and started our own automotive parts business in that building. Those were the good old days!
