There's always three things present when a fire starts: heat, fuel, and oxygen.

On heavy equipment, all three of them can come together fast. A hot engine compartment, a fluid leak, built-up debris, or steady airflow can be enough to turn a small issue into a serious fire risk.

We're headed to WAMPEX 2026 with Multi-Tech Services!

Mining operations across West Africa face some of the toughest working conditions in the world. Long hours, high heat, dust, vibration, and demanding production schedules all put pressure on both equipment and the people operating it. AFEX's systems are built to help protect operators when every second matters, with reliable detection and system discharge designed for the harsh environments mining equipment works in every day.

If you’ll be at WAMPEX, make sure to connect to talk through fire risks, fleet protection, and how AFEX helps mining operations improve safety while keeping equipment productive.

This is NOT a Normal Fire Extinguisher 💧

AFEX Fire Suppression Systems protect your equipment, your operators, and your bottom line. Built specifically for heavy equipment fire protection, AFEX systems deliver fire suppression agents directly to hazardous areas of equipment. In high-risk environments like mining, construction, forestry, and waste handling, these systems can mean the difference between a minor incident and a total loss.

From fire suppression to diesel engine and off-road vehicle protection, AFEX helps reduce downtime and prevent catastrophic damage. If you’re running loaders, excavators, haul trucks, or dozers, investing in a proven automatic fire suppression system is essential.

In observance of Memorial Day, our office is closed today, May 25th. We will reopen on Tuesday, May 26th.

As we step away for the holiday, we recognize and remember the service members who lost their lives in service to this country. Their sacrifice deserves reflection, gratitude, and respect.

We're excited to introduce the next-generation Compact Panel!

This new panel keeps the simple, compact design our distributors already know, but adds upgrades that make it easier to install, easier to service, and easier to use in the field. Operators can now discharge the system directly from the panel when needed with the push of a button, giving them a faster way to respond during an emergency.

It’s also built to make life easier for distributors, with flexible power options, fewer wiring connections, compatibility with existing AFEX system setups, and downloadable system data for troubleshooting.

The BIGGEST Wheel Loader in the world.

The Komatsu WE2350 was originally manufactured by LeTourneau. This wheel loader operates in surface mines helping move material. It weighs in at over 580,000 lbs and can move up to 12mph with its 2300hp engine.

We protects these machines with our recommended dual agent systems. Equipment this large requires 250 lbs of dry agent and 15 gallons of SAFE-X liquid.

A heavy equipment fire rarely affects just one machine. 🚧

When an essential asset is taken out of service, the impact can spread quickly across an operation. Not only is your equipment down, but you can face insurance costs, downtime, replacement costs and damage to your reputation. Before you know it, that fire's burned through revenue just as much as it burned through equipment.

AFEX Fire Suppression Systems are built to detect and suppress fires at the source, helping protect operators, equipment, and the productivity your operation depends on.

How Fire Suppression Systems Work 🔥

Fire suppression systems on heavy equipment are built to catch and stop fires fast, often before the operator even notices. They use heat-sensitive wire or sensors placed around high-risk areas like the engine and hydraulics. When extreme heat or flame is detected, the system automatically triggers (or can be activated manually).

Once activated, it releases agents like dry chemical or liquid through targeted nozzles to knock down the fire, cool surfaces, and prevent reignition. Many systems also shut down the engine and fuel supply to stop the fire from spreading. The system is meant to allow the operator to exit the vehicle safely and protect the machine from any further damage.

This year’s AFEX Technical Training School gave attendees more than product updates and installer certification.

We brought the group back to our shop for a closer look at the people, processes, and quality checks behind every AFEX system. From the new Compact Panel to component testing and day-to-day production, it was a great opportunity to show the care that goes into building reliable fire suppression systems for heavy equipment.
