Controversy over new stainless sign?
Drama, I hate it don’t you? For the last 24 hours we have had a person in Fuquay Varina very upset about our signage on the new building. I have been told she has contacted news crews and was planning to picket at the new building at 8am this morning however she was not able to get permits in time.
I have several emails and calls from you all about her riding around town attempting to get support for her cause against our sign? The lady is highly upset that she and her children have to see our signs every day. FYI the signs are the same as what we currently have at 330 South Main except it is Stainless Steel and larger, we actually can put MUCH larger signs if we wanted because it is all based on square foot of wall space. In other words the bigger the building the bigger your signs can be.
I have no problem with free speech and her wanting to get an army together to rise up against the signs, but aren’t my signs a form of freedom of speech?? I am often times amazed as to how some folks spend their spare time, I guess different strokes for different folks.
Its kind of comical that we have had basically the same sign design for the last 10 years and never has anyone ever even mentioned them in a negative way. The fact of the matter is folks stop every few days to get a pic themselves with the signs.
When the project was started some complained about removing trees to build another business.
When the building was erected I got calls and emails asking why I had to build a steel building and make the town look so cheap before they realized we were going with brick and stone.
I guess I am absolutely amazed as to the amount of time some folks have on their hands and how they choose to spend it. I typically work 6 or 7 days a week and I can assure the last thing I am interested in is sticking my nose where it does not belong when I do have some time off.
I am telling you all this now because I would rather tell you than for you to get it from the media. I do ask that if the pickets begin I would like for all of you to be on your best behavior and treat them with respect because that is the right they have, no matter how silly it may seem to us.
