Notice of Raeford Cemetery Ordinance Violations and Required Corrections
Dear family members of departed,
This letter is to inform you that certain items currently placed at the cemetery are not in compliance with the City of Raeford cemetery ordinances and regulations.
It has been observed that items have been placed on or around burial plots that are not permitted under the established rules. These regulations are in place to ensure the cemetery remains safe, properly maintained, and respectful to all families.
You are hereby requested to remove the items that are in violation by MARCH 31, 2026. Failure to correct these violations within the specified time may result in the City removing and properly disposing of the non-compliant items in accordance with cemetery policy.
Non-Compliant items:
• Individual plot edging
• Trellis, arch, fence
• Trees, plants, bushes that were not there prior to interment
• Loose items, pictures, bottles, figurines, etc.
• More than one average size artificial flower arrangement.
• Metal benches. (Only small concrete benches are acceptable)
We understand that decorations are placed with care and remembrance; however, all items must comply with the ordinances to allow for proper grounds maintenance and the overall appearance of the cemetery.
