We’re pleased to announce that Cashman Dredging and Marine Contracting Co. was honored last week in Washington, D.C., with a national safety award recognizing the company’s continued excellence in safety leadership and workforce development.

Stephen Aykroyd and Rob Labbe received Safety Leadership Awards from the Committee on Dredging and Marine Construction Safety (CDMCS) for their roles in advancing Cashman’s Safety Trainee / Junior Safety Manager Professional Development Program, an initiative that reflects Cashman’s long-term investment in building a strong, sustainable safety culture across marine operations.

Steve was recognized for his leadership as a mentor and trainer, providing strategic guidance, technical expertise, and structured coaching to early-career safety professionals, while ensuring consistent application of Cashman’s safety standards across active projects.

Rob was recognized as one of the program’s first Safety Trainees to successfully progress through its full development pathway. Under Steve’s mentorship, Rob has demonstrated strong field leadership, operational discipline, and the ability to translate training into on-site results.

Cashman’s Safety Trainee / Junior Safety Manager Program focuses on developing future safety leaders through comprehensive onboarding, field shadowing, live project exposure, and industry certifications, while creating clear career pathways and supporting long-term retention within the dredging industry.

Congratulations to Steve, Rob, and the entire Cashman team on this well-deserved national recognition.

Last weekend, employees across the Cashman Companies joined together to celebrate our end-of-year accomplishments and the momentum we’ve built this year.

It was a wonderful opportunity for team members from all divisions to connect, reflect, and enjoy time together outside of the day-to-day. A special thank-you to Chase Davis for organizing the event and to Dylan Kehoe for his support in helping bring everything together. We’re grateful for the hard work that made this gathering possible and for the incredible team that continues to drive Cashman forward.

Our ongoing commitment to on-site safety brought Erik Haruch, Cashman’s VP of Environmental, Health, Safety, and Quality, and Roman Davis, Director of Employee Development and Strategy to several different job sites over the past few weeks.

During their visits to New Haven, CT, a jobsite in New Jersey, and Brooklyn, NY, they connected with employees to support our continued commitment to safety and observe active projects across our job sites and vessels. Cashman employees continue to demonstrate exceptional skill, dedication, and teamwork. Our focus on excellence and safety is creating a positive and productive work environment where everyone can thrive.

Erik and Roman will continue conducting site visits throughout the coming year. More updates to come.

The expansion is a key step in modernizing the base’s operational capabilities. Completion is anticipated by November 2027.

Over the past decade, Jay Cashman, Inc. has helped strengthen communities across Haiti by building bridges, installing solar power, and supporting vital infrastructure for schools, clinics, and parishes.

This work is now beautifully captured in a new short film created by Josh Murphy, highlighting how these projects have brought light, learning, and connection to 30 parishes in southern Haiti.
