Thinking about fork extensions? Here’s what to look for before you buy.

Not all fork extensions are created equal. When comparing options, make sure you’re looking beyond just price.

Capacity ratings – Extensions must be rated for the load and the forklift they’re used on. Overloading can be dangerous.
Proper fit – Extensions should be sized correctly for your existing forks. Too wide or too long can cause instability and serious damage.
Steel quality & construction – Thicker steel, stronger retaining straps/pins, and solid welds make a big difference in strength and lifespan.
Compliance & safety standards – Look for extensions that meet OSHA/ANSI requirements and do not exceed 150% of the fork length.
Impact on load center – Extensions increase the load center, which reduces forklift capacity. Always account for this when lifting.
Get what you pay for – Cheap imports may look similar, but often lack the durability needed for daily, real-world use.

Fork extensions are a safety-critical attachment. Choosing the right set protects your equipment, your product, and most importantly—your people.
