The biggest shift for builders new to SIPs is not what most people expect.

It is not the installation. It is the planning.

Conventional framing lets you make a lot of calls in the field as you go. SIP construction asks you to make those calls before panels go into fabrication. Window locations. Electrical layouts. MEP penetrations. Roof geometry. All confirmed upfront.

That front-loaded coordination is exactly why SIP projects move faster once the build starts. The decisions are already made. The crew has what they need before panels hit the site.

Can SIPs perform in high-seismic zones?

It's a popular question we get from builders and architects working in seismic markets. Here's what the engineering actually shows.

Stick-frame walls resist lateral loads through plywood sheathing nailed at intervals. A SIP is a continuous structural skin, with OSB facings bonded across the entire panel surface. It handles lateral and vertical loads as a complete assembly, not connection by connection.

Premier SIPS are ICC-tested and approved across the full seismic range in North America, from California to Alaska and every high-seismic market in between.

192,000 square feet. The length of three football fields. One of the largest CLT manufacturing facilities in the United States located in Oregon. This facility is hard to put into words.

72,400 sq ft of 4" EPS SIP wall panels. Installed in under five months alongside 240 glulam columns and 260 beams stretching up to 110 feet long.

The thermal performance SIPs deliver made them the right call for a facility designed to produce 7 to 9 million square feet of CLT annually. A mass timber building, built better with SIPs.

Breckenridge, CO. Custom residence. Framing → finished.

2,358 sq ft of 5.5" SIP wall panels. 2,092 sq ft of 11.25" SIP roof panels.

Building in Breckenridge means altitude, temperature swings, and serious snow loads. The envelope has to be right. These panels delivered it.
