Welcome back to Season 4 of the Game of Stones Podcast! 🎙️
In this episode, Joe Alva sits down with Laura Grandlienard, founder and owner of ROCKin’teriors in Raleigh, North Carolina, who started her journey as a fabricator about 15 years ago.
Laura calls it her “hobby job.” She wanted to bring something new to the Raleigh area: a service-oriented company focused on excellence from beginning to end. She shares how her team has been with her since the start, with the youngest member at 11 years, and how she built a culture of accountability: open discussions before every investment, round-robin meetings, and a pizza analogy where every slice is critical to the pie.
They also talk about:
being one of the few shops accredited by the Natural Stone Institute, and a woman-led business 🏆
becoming experts in sintered stone like Dekton, Neolith and Lapitec almost ten years ago, even when part of the team pushed back
building a new facility designed around recycled water
why everyone in the shop is an employee, with no subcontractors and no pay by the square foot
what she brought from corporate America, studying how companies like Toyota and Nordstrom approach excellence and service
Joe closes by thanking Laura and saying how proud he is to support the Latin American Fabricators Network.
