Listen, we’ll spare you all the details but there is a beautiful story here that we wanted to share.
Sometimes working retail, hospitality, service or heck - any business - can be hard. And sometimes we have an encounter with someone that just turns a little sideways.
One such encounter occurred here a couple weeks ago. But, it happens. A manager gets called and handles it as best they can and we try hard to be supportive of our staff and also understanding of the complaint or issue. It’s a delicate balance.
It is rare, we get a positive follow up. Usually these sort of things result in a negative yelp review or a social media rant or someone huffing off saying they will never shop here again. That’s ok.
Today, a person who shall remain nameless because it’s not for us to say who they are, came back to our business to apologize for how he handled himself with our staff a couple weeks ago. He hand delivered this orchid, some pastries and an absolutely lovely note card, hand written to all of us, but specifically the person on our staff that he had the encounter with.
We were and are mind blown that someone would take the time and have the genuine reflective thoughtfulness to try and make this ok with us.
This is just a small glimpse of what was in the lengthy note because we really do think this particular sentiment is worth sharing:
‘I try to be ‘right relationship’ with myself, family and friends, my community and the natural world around me. We are all parts of the fabric of this special place we call home and we need to support and care for one another (especially now when so many parts of the world are suffering.’
🥹 Thank you!
I don’t think this person has any idea how much this meaningful gesture has meant to all of us here at Lands End.
