Side-by-side comparison of the screw bushing on an old Kurt D688 and the new DX6 Crossover. I guess they realized they didn’t need some super high precision bearing to hold the screw on the user end. I’m a little skeptical, to be honest, but we’ll see!

A work in progress. Made from blackened zinc and nickel plated brass, with stainless rivets. Finishing touches that you can’t see here to come soon. The painters tape will stay. It’s part of the design, obviously.

Had to make a new blade guide for my vertical band saw because I could NOT cut curves with the brass guides. I mounted bearings on eccentric arbors so I can get them really snug on the blade and the difference is amazing. @ Nine and Two Thirds

Fiiiiiine. My registration wasn’t prefect on the CNC so I had all these eccentric screw heads. Had to clean up all 110 of them again.

U.S. Navy #53-146-22
This collet closer, like the lathe it’s on, was first owned by a friend of a friend (I’m the third owner) who was a Naval machinist during WWII. It’s still in use, Richard!
