Is the AI job loss finally here? Or is there something else driving the current layoffs?

This video gives an interesting take on what is really going on in the economy, well worth a watch.
In summary:
- Is AI driving all the job losses? Not really. In the corporate world, between 60-80% of AI projects have been failures. So why blame AI for the job cuts?
- One reason is finding a scapegoat in order to align towards a changing economy.
- So why are so many corporate AI projects failing?
- Most corporate AI projects cost a ton of money. Why? Because they use LARGE Language Models (LLM). These LLMs like ChatGPT or Gemini are highly capable, but require a lot of expensive hardware to run it. This means that as business use cases scale in volume, the AI cost also scales in a worse manner, rendering the projects not to return meaningful ROIs.
- I'm a SMB owner. I want to leverage AI to increase my productivity. Will my AI project succeed?
- At SLT Engineering, we use SMALL Language Models (SLM). These SLMs are much more cost-efficient to run, and can be specialized for your business use case. But the KEY here is COST-EFFICIENCY -- this results in our AI projects being scalable and having a meaningful ROI, thus benefiting your business.
- SLT's philosophy is to take on AI projects that AUGMENT the employees, NOT replace them. We only take on projects that have a true, measurable ROI.
