Just wrapped up an epic paddle on Lake Powell with Gerry! Despite the Labor Day crowds, we had a blast riding the waves right in the middle of the lake. The energy was high, and the views were unbeatable. Can’t think of a better way to spend the holiday weekend! 🏝🧭🛶

It was an experience to use the Kaibab Trail Suspension Bridge in the that connects the North and South Kaibab trail across the Colorado River. For some time, the only river crossing from Moab UT to Needles CA.

The historical marker showed this bridge built in 1927 was named a national historical civil engineering landmark in 2019 by

Loved the inflatable kayaks, they were like paddle boards with large tube sides that became bumper boats. Made and shenanigans on the water so much fun.

Spring moisture in the low desert. I was out on the road and stopped by my friends in Congress on a snow day.

Quick look at an old project site in San Luis, and I was surprised how close I was to the international border. San Luis is the actual border 25 miles south of Yuma. So I went on an adventure to get a shot and also see the end of the Colorado River. Check out metro San Luis Mexico vs. its micro cousin in the US. Yes, that is the border fence along a community park.

Apparently, the Colorado is all taken by irrigation water and never makes it to the sea. The only water remaining below the last turnout S of Yuma is a canal of salt brine from the BOR desalination facility.

The Colorado is so saline by the time it reaches Mexico that we must treat it to remove TDS (salts).
