Well our 1st contest of the year was a success!
Twisted boot cooked at the Smoke Sheaux 2024 in Breaux Bridge, La
There were 41 teams from 3 states that showed up looking to roll some smoke.
We took home 5th in ribs, 10th in chicken, and missed the final table in brisket by 1/2 point.

The Twisted Boot BBQ team competed in the 16th annual Smokin Oldies in Port Allen, La this weekend with some pretty decent results. We grabbed a 9th in chicken and a 13th in ribs. Chicken has been our toughest category this year so it was good to finally grab a good finish. The 2023 season standings have us sitting in 9th place overall in ribs out of 60 teams. Thanks to Danny Wilk and My Dad's BBQ for helping us get to that 9th place! All I can say is “it’s that good”. You just have to give it a try folks. Thanks to Mike and Mike at Signs In A Day for making the Twisted Boot trailer simply the best looking rig on the circuit! It was great to see you guys at this event and we appreciate the support!

Just a couple more contests for us this year as hunting season is fast approaching and these grandsons of mine are already checking their gear and getting ready.
Nevermind the 95 degree weather, they are ready. Please take your kids or grandkids hunting. If you do, you will never have to hunt for your kids. Get em outdoors!

A better late than never post as life has kept us busy.
We cooked at the annual Grillin’ & Chillin’ BCA contest at Gator Grounds in Bunkie, La. on August 11-12. After a multi-way tie for 1st place in ribs and a re-judge, we grabbed a 3rd place finish in ribs! No calls in chicken or brisket as we continue to be in a slump with those meats.
So that makes two 3rd place and a 7th place finish in ribs this year. Maybe just maybe we have found something in our rib process. We won’t give away our secret ingredient but what we will say is we love Pigeon Forge, Tn and all the that we were able to find there on our annual family vacation to see Dolly.
They had a kids Que in Bunkie so the 3 big boys got a chance to defend some trophies. This is one of the big reasons we do what we do! Although they didn’t get a call, all three boys competed hard and did every step of the process from selecting rubs and sauces to cooking their pork chops. Y’all will get em next time boys!
Our next stop is at the 17th annual Smokin Oldies in Port Allen, La. On Sept 8-9th. This is a great event with a neat car show. Come stop by the cook trailer and grab a Twisted Boot LSU Football schedule magnet while you are there.

Be sure to watch BBQ USA Monday August 7th on the TV Food Network.
You just might catch a glimpse of Twisted Boot BBQ claiming a 3rd place rib trophy at the Smoke Sheaux in Breaux Bridge!
While we were not one of the featured teams, we did have a great outing there actually tying for 2nd in ribs on score but grabbed 3rd place with the tie breaker.
We competed against 55 great teams and had a blast.
We need everyone to tune in so they continue to pick up these great competitions for tv

Some pics from this past weekend as we competed at Parkers Landing in Biloxi.
We got a walk in brisket with a 10th place and made final table in chicken.
Head cook, yours truly, is responsible for messing up the timing on our ribs and missed our chance at a 3rd straight top 10.
The Twisted Boot BBQ crew’s next stop will be the the Bayou BBQ Bash in Morgan City July 21-22.

The Twisted Boot BBQ team had a pretty good showing at the 16th bi-annual BBQ Throw-down in Marksville this weekend. We took home 3rd in desert, 7th place ribs, 4th in steak, and 5th in margarita out of 48 cook teams . That’s back to back top ten ribs!
Still work to do on chicken and brisket but we will get there.
