We are looking for a knowledgeable, motivated, and customer-focused Counter & Parts Sales Specialist to join our Portsmouth team.
Position Summary
As a Counter & Parts Sales Specialist, you are the face and voice of Barbour Auto Parts. You will be responsible for assisting customers both in-store and over the phone, diagnosing their automotive needs, locating the correct parts, and ensuring a seamless sales experience.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service Excellence: Greet retail and commercial customers warmly, answer phone inquiries promptly, and provide expert guidance on automotive parts and accessories.
Parts Lookup & Cataloging: Efficiently utilize electronic parts catalogs and inventory management software to locate, order, and pull the correct parts.
Sales & Upselling: Anticipate customer needs by suggesting complementary items (e.g., hardware, fluids, or tools) required to complete the job safely and effectively.
Inventory & Showroom Upkeep: Assist with receiving incoming stock, checking in freight, stocking shelves, and maintaining a clean, organized, and well-merchandised storefront.
Commercial Support: Assist in processing commercial account orders and coordinating timely deliveries with our driving team.
Qualifications & Skills
Automotive Knowledge: Strong understanding of automotive systems, parts, and maintenance is highly preferred.
Experience: Previous experience in automotive parts sales, retail sales, or a hands-on mechanical background is a major plus.
Tech Savvy: Ability to quickly learn electronic cataloging systems and point-of-sale (POS) software.
Communication: Excellent verbal communication and phone etiquette; ability to translate complex technical jargon into easy-to-understand advice for DIY customers.
Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods and comfortably lift and move parts weighing up to 50 lbs.
