On National Aviation Day, we’re celebrating a legend that made its final journey on the ground. The Philippine Mars, a 76,000-pound WWII-era flying boat and one of the largest aircraft ever built, took its last trip not through the sky, but across 150 miles of road.

This historic giant was hauled piece by piece to its permanent home at the Pima Air & Space Museum in Arizona. Leading the charge: a Western Star 49X. Tight turns, narrow roads, and zero room for error—this wasn’t just a transport, it was a precision operation.

After decades in the air, the Philippine Mars is now grounded for good. We're proud to have helped carry its legacy the last mile.
