One of our recent projects, the renovation of the 2nd Street Warming Shelter in Bend, a vital resource for the local homeless community, stands out as one of the most rewarding.

This project included extensive interior rejuvenation, a kitchen extension, HVAC upgrades, new sanitary and domestic water lines, added shower facilities and a partial ductwork overhaul. Despite some after-design additions pushing costs over the original budget, we showcased our expertise in delivering cost-efficient solutions, keeping the budget on track.

To ensure a seamless construction process, it’s essential to begin with a thorough constructability review. The JLD team identified key elements during the mechanical component upgrade at Portland State University's 4th Avenue Building.

Significant issues included crane placement along 4th Avenue and roof clearances for a new medium-voltage generator. JLD provided a solution by finding a better crane location with a shorter reach and recommending changes to the construction plan.
